Android System Update Download Paused Waiting For Wifi Connection

Hi
when I try to download the latest system update, the Priv is stuck at 'waiting for wifi'. I have the option to press continue but it pauses again instantaneously.
The phone shows a working wifi connection. I rebooted the phone, resented the phone, disabled and reabled wifi, tried my other wifi network - no success.
I fear that there is some corrupt file in the download cache preventing the update from succeeding. Does anyone know how to delete any files already downloaded so that the update can start from scratch again?
Or is there any other workaround?

Oct 31, 2014  Thanks for the welcome! No, Last night it just automatically started this update. I waited a while and nothing happened. I turn off my phone at night and when I turned it back on this morning it kicked back on to SW update - it looks like it just waiting to connect 0. My Nexus 5 prompted me to update my Android to 5.1. When I clicked download, the process is stuck on 'Waiting to download.' And there after nothing happened. I waited for almost 10 minutes, and then restarted my phone yet again it stuck on same phase 'Waiting to download.' Edit: It took more than 15 minutes to initiate the download.
